City of Rupert
Wastewater
(Sewer) Dept .

The City of Rupert Wastewater Department infrastructure consists of approximately 44 miles of collection lines. With sizes varying from 8" to 24".

Rupert also has 18 lift stations that it maintains.

Rupert treats it wastewater by extended aeration and then the wastewater is sent to facultative lagoons. Rupert's lagoons are approximately 232 acres.

Once the water has gone through the biological process it is land applied by 3 center pivots.

The land under the pivots is farmed with various crops such as alfalfa, grain, beans and sugar beets.

Over the last few years the wastewater department has done some major projects to upgrade the infrastructure around the city.

We are in the final design phase of a $20 million activied sludge treatment plant.

Rupert's capacity is approximately 4 million gallons a day.

Currently we receive 1.5 million gallons a day during the winter months and 3.4 million gallons a day in the summer.
