The City of Rupert operates a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment facility collecting wastewater from its more than 44 miles of collection lines to a single location where waste from commercial operations, residences, and industrial customers is tranformed and reused.
City of Rupert wastewater operations strive for sustainability and environmental responsibility. The City’s wastewater treatment process transforms incoming waste to nutrient-rich irrigation water and fertilizer for nearby farmland. These farms produce alfalfa and wheat in typical farm years. Before being applied to farm ground, water is stored in the City’s lagoons which are approximatley 232 acres in size.
Following major upgrades completed in 2012, the Rupert wastewater treatment plant has capacity to handle residential growth and expansion of “wet” industry.
