Fire and Life Safety Inspections

The Fire Department and Fire Marshal conducts periodic inspections on businesses and commercial occupancies to check for compliance with fire prevention codes.  They are considered maintenance inspections to ensure that exits, fire sprinklers, fire alarm systems, exit signs/lighting are being maintained in good working order.  These inspections are done by the Fire Marshal for the City of Rupert using the IFC 2009 edition fire code standards.

Pre-fire plan inspections are done by the Fire Department for the sole purpose of allowing the firefighters to familiarize themselves with the structural and operational aspects of various occupancies to which they may respond.

The data gathered from investigation of fires to determine origin and cause is used to direct our fire inspection and public education programs to help minimize the fire loss in our community.
